Clay
Send new leads to a Clay table to enrich and route them.
Clay is a spreadsheet-like tool for enriching and routing contacts. Each lead that matches the automation is added as a new row of a Clay table, through the table's own webhook URL. Clay can then enrich it further and send it on to wherever you work.
- In Clay, open your table, add a Webhook source and copy the URL Clay shows you.
- Automations → New automation. Pick the source, the filter and the frequency, then the action Send to Clay, and paste the URL.
- Choose every lead or only leads with a suggested contact, then Save & activate.
Common questions
Which leads go to Clay? The ones that pass your filter. Every lead sends each matching company; only leads with a suggested contact sends only leads that come with the exact person who visited, so each row has a name to enrich. Add a score rule to the filter to send only your best-fit leads (Build an automation).
Where do I find my Clay webhook URL?
In Clay, in the table's sources: add a Webhook source and Clay gives you a URL that starts with https://api.clay.com/v3/sources/webhook/…. Paste it into the automation.
Why did a lead not reach my Clay table? Open the automation's run history: a Filtered run names the rule that stopped it, a Failed run shows what Clay answered. Check the URL is the table's current webhook, then Retry this lead.
Does it run on old leads? Only on leads that arrive after you save it, unless you choose Retrigger for existing leads right after saving, or tick leads on the Leads page and Retrigger.
Does Clay run on a trial? Yes, on every plan. When the trial or credits run out, new leads stop; the automation keeps running on the leads you have.
